Who are you?
My name is Jay. I am a self-taught digital artist, and tend to be self-taught in everything I do.
I also enjoy making music as a hobby, and I am currently majoring in Game Design with a minor in Computer Science. Recently, I have discovered my love for User Interface Designing and rediscovered my love for making games.How long have you been drawing digitally?
For 11 yearsI started off creating art of Yo-Kai Watch, FNAF, and Undertale characters back in 2015; however, I stopped drawing digitally and went the 3D route, using Source Filmmaker to create Five Nights at Freddy's and Splatoon posters and animations. I did this under the name Frederick the Fred, which I used from 2017 to 2020, when I eventually rebranded under my current name J4Yx27 or J4Y_27.
I got my first Wacom Intuos tablet in 2018 and have been drawing digitally ever since, usually drawing my own characters and ideas.How did you learn to draw?
A lot of my skills came from observing. I watched a lot of anime and observed other artists' works before I started drawing. My original style was heavily influenced by storytime animators like Jaiden Animations and TheOdd1sOut; however, over time, it evolved into the anime-esque style you see today. I now use both styles interchangeably.What do you use to create your art?
I use Clip Studio Paint EX with a Huion Kamvas 16 (Gen 3). Sometimes I will use Procreate or Clip Studio Paint Pro on my iPad 10th Gen for sketching ideas.For 3D, I used to use Source Filmmaker but have since made the switch to Blender. I have used Cinema 4D in the past but have not touched the program since 2019. I also learned how to use Substaince Painter in 2025 and have been using it since for certain projects.What do you hope to do in the future?
My dream is to become an animator, but I wouldn't mind creating art for games; Specifically doing character design, concept art, or illustrations. I also would possibly like to create my own comics as well, since I love to write stories for my characters.

Terragen Test Render

Terragen Test Render was created to test out the program Terragen, as well as attempt to create a modded painting for Minecraft Bedrock Edition/Windows 10 Edition.

Trinkets Card Game and Digital Game (2025)

Helped create the fighter set used in the physical card game Trinkets by Grace/Voidvinn. In the digital version I updated their looks.I also helped with the design of the base cards and sabotage cards, as well as designed the main menu for the trinkets card game on short notice.

Fox's Gambit (2025)

Created the cover art for a board game called Fox's Gambit.
The art was then used for the final version of the rulebook which was created by Cori/BirdsAreBlooming.

Enigma

A former class project from 2024 turned into a personal project.The game is heavily inspired by the Mother series created by Nintendo and Shigesato Itoi. While also being influenced by the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. The game will focus on a boy named Keith and 3 friends who will travel the world to save people who have been kidnapped by Aliens who have teamed up with the paranormal entities residing on Earth to cause havoc across the globe.

Desolate Winter: Main Menu (2026)

For my User Interface class, our first assignment was to create a main menu based on any idea we had, while also considering design principles. I came up with a main menu for Desolate Winter, a game based on a song I wrote titled "Final Act: Desolate Winter".

Music

As stated in my FAQ, I create music for fun, and have been doing so since 2018. I acquired a license for FL Studio 3 years ago and bought Ableton Live 2 years ago. I'm still learning but it's a fun process.I will be posting some stuff once album art is ready and everything is mixed well
